Nutritional Vitamin Injections

Patients are often surprised to learn that many oral supplements are not formulated for bioavailability. That means your body receives some (but not all) of the nutritional benefits. Even if you consume a healthy diet, certain health conditions can prevent your body from fully absorbing vitamins and minerals.

Some health conditions like pernicious anemia can make it difficult for your body to absorb vitamin B12 even if you take a high-quality daily supplement. Individuals with gastrointestinal issues and acid reflux may also have problems absorbing vitamin B12. Medications that reduce stomach acid can also contribute to nutritional deficiency.

Symptoms of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Unless you know the signs of vitamin B12 deficiency, you may not be able to recognize them. In some cases, patients may be deficient in the B12 essential vitamin for years, increasing the risks for chronic conditions and disorders. However, one of the first signs that patients notice is energy loss.

A blood panel will determine that your body’s vitamins and nutrients are below normal. Some of the symptoms and health risks associated with vitamin B12 deficiency include:

Megaloblastic anemia

Seizures

Depression and mood disorders

Impaired memory function

Pernicious anemia

Chronic fatigue

Dementia

If you have been diagnosed with a vitamin deficiency, you can receive B12 injections at Bloom MedSpa. Because vitamin B12 is water soluble, any excess in your body will be discharged. However, the recommended maximum daily intake for vitamin B12 is 1000mcg.

Vitamin injections can be done weekly if required and then on a scheduled treatment plan to maintain adequate levels of essential vitamins. By injection, patients receive more benefits from vitamin treatments, as nutrients enter directly into the bloodstream and are more bioavailable.
